If you are expecting this site to show a person whose house is spotless, with homemade meals and desert made from scratch on the table every night, the laundry always caught up, my kid always acting perfect and handmade gifts given for every holiday, then you’ve landed on the wrong site.

If you are NOT like the person mentioned above and you want to come hang out with someone who isn’t a Supermom either, then you’ve come to the right place.

Happy New Year! And There are some great things on the way!

Happy New Year Everybody!

I'm a bit belated in my wishes, but it's because I have been working on some new ideas for everyone.

We will be having some upcoming posts on easy ways to get healthier and lose weight.
Yes, it's that time of year again when many of us "Try Again" to get fit.

I, too have fallen off the wagon when it comes to losing weight and getting fit. I allowed stress, and the day to day busyness of life to creep in and wreck my schedule.
My frustration grew right along with the pounds that slowly crept back on.
If you've been there, then you know how defeated it can make you feel and how easy it is to just let things go.

But, I have a new sense of purpose, I am ready to re-start and I'm looking for others who are ready, too. I'm looking for other people who, like me, are busy beyond belief and who live in the real world.
We (let alone our families) don't eat Tofu, we don't have 3 hours a day to work out, we’re crunched for time and out of dinner ideas and we can't always afford a personal trainer to "whip" us into shape.
All we have is ourselves....and each other.

So let’s band together and share our goals and the things that work for us. We can also hold out a hand to a friend and hoist them back up if they fall off the wagon.

Studies have proven that those who seek out other people whose goals are the same, and they work together to achieve those goals are more successful than those who try and do it alone.

So, if you are looking for some easy ways to get healthier this year and are looking for some friends to help you through it, then come back often and see what we will have.

Please feel free to share your goals, your dreams of a better you and maybe some tips to help others who are right there with you.

If you are on Facebook, we now have a new group called "Time To Be Healthy"
This new group is open to anyone whose goal is to finally get healthy.
Whether it is to lose weight, kick a bad habit like smoking, or just get fit, this is the place to come.
You can state your goals, share what's working for you and find plenty of support.

Come Join Us!

Special Motorcycle Night at Edgewater Sports Park

Edgewater Sports Park is going to try a Wednesday Motorcycle only night starting this Wednesday, May 12. Times are 5:30PM - 10:00PM.

This is where you can bring your motorcycle and run it on the track. Please pass this on to all bike lovers out there especially the young people.

This is a great place to run your bike and race your buddies instead of racing on the street. Street racing as we all know is extremely dangerous and puts innocent people at risk.

Remember, real racers race on the strip, not the street. So come on out to Edgewater Sports Park this Wednesday for motorcycles only.

If there is enough interest, then they will continue the Wednesday program, so come and show your support. Friday test and tune nights for both cars and bikes are still on as well as the Saturday night race program.

For more info please visit their website: http://www.edgewaterrace.com/

AT&T To Phase Out Landlines

It was only a matter of time, I guess. Still, I wonder what some of poorer, rural areas of the country will do.

What Does Black Friday Mean To You?

Do you shop on Black Friday?
Does Black Friday fill you with giddy excitement or the feeling of dread worse than having dental work done without anesthesia?
When did we all start calling the Friday after Thanksgiving "Black Friday" anyway?
Whether you love it or hate it, tell me what you think.
Here are some questions to think about.

Are you one of the brave ones that go out on the craziest day of the year to find the best bargains? Are you a newbie at this or an old veteran? Do you go alone or do you bring reinforcements, i.e. mother, sister, friend, spouse? In other words, do you hunt alone or in packs? You don’t bring your kids with you, do you? Or do you?

Do you brave the cold temperatures and bad weather that often times accompanies this shopping frenzy day, leaving your coat behind because it will just slow you down? Do you charge ahead fearing not the lunacy of what can occur – the fender benders in parking lots, endlessly circling for a parking spot, wrestling your way through the crowds hoping there is still one left of the item you seek, waiting in long lines at the checkout and daring that bigger, stronger woman to just try and cut in line in front of you?

So tell me, does this day bring out the best in people do you think or does it just show their worst side? What side does it bring out in you? How do you prepare yourself for this day? Do you arm yourself with the latest weapons? No, I'm not talking about strapping on an actual firearm. Besides, ammo is hard to come by these days. I'm talking about arming yourself with survival gear - food, water, sales ads.

I can assure you, retail workers dread this day like no other. Yes, the stores’ CEO’s and accountants love it, but I bet they never had to work that day in one of their stores or any day for that matter.

I remember the years I worked retail. I remember spending two weeks ahead of time trying to get everything ready for the big day. I remember having to get to the store at 4:00 AM so we could open at 5:00 and seeing customers already starting to line up. I remember all us workers saying, “They must be freakin’ nuts!”

One time, when I was young, stupid and had more energy, I let my best friend drag me out on a Black Friday to go shopping. That was after I had worked 10 hours already in the store. I kept saying, “No, never, forget it!” I kept repeating those words all the way to the car as she was dragging me by the coat sleeve. With the promise of a free meal and she would do all the driving, I found myself riding along in her car, circling a Wal-Mart parking lot like the rest of the vultures slowing gliding around, waiting to swoop in on the slightest glimpse of backup lights. I have to admit we had a good time, but again we were young and stupid. The alcohol afterwards at the restaurant definitely helped I’d say.

Yes, the deals are great, but after having worked enough of the Fridays after Thanksgiving, no deal, not even free would make me ever want to go out and shop that day again. And you know how I love free and great deals. I just love my life and my sanity more! Some of those shoppers are scary. Not to mention my own bad temper.

With the economy as bad as it is, retailers are sure counting on this day to boost up lagging sales. And the bargains they are offering sound mighty tempting, but saving $10 here or $20 or even more there on the few items I need just isn’t worth it to me. I know my inner deal loving person is gasping in horror at missing these deals, but the rational side of me just can’t bring myself to go out into the feeding frenzy. I guess I would rather be dropped into the ocean with raw, bloody meat to feed the nice sharks then brave the scary women (and some men) vying for that last item on a shelf for 50% off.

So please, share with me your best or worst Black Friday stories. Let’s all laugh (or cry) together.

If you do venture out this year, stay safe and try to be courteous to one another. Remember, it’s just money. Nothing is so valuable it’s worth losing your cool over. That is except those who cut in line. I hate line jumpers! Just remember though, many states now have the concealed carry law!

Happy shopping and let the games begin!

Coming Soon - stories, tips, etc to come soon

Hey, now that I have been recently laid off from my full time job I now have a few extra moments a day to dedicate to writing this blog. One amongst millions I know.
But why should you bother using your time to read this one?
I'm hoping I can entertain you. My son thinks I'm here solely to entertain him and I'm getting kind of good at that.

I am creating this blog for a number of reasons. Mainly it's so I can "publish" my own literary works (that's a fancy way of saying my stories, tips and opinions) before I send them out for in print publishing. That way in the off chance someone might like what I have written they can't sell it as their own.

Being laid off especially when you have a child can be one of the scariest things that could ever happen. Many are trying to help me by saying to take this time to do the things I've been wanting to do, but never had the time to do. (I'm getting a small and I do mean small severance package)
So, while the munchkin is taking a nap I'm starting this.

Check back at least once a week if you want. This will be a variety pack of things I hope you find useful and entertaining.

Till then.
