If you are NOT like the person mentioned above and you want to come hang out with someone who isn’t a Supermom either, then you’ve come to the right place.

M.O.B. Society's Boy Mom Blog Hop 2012

Hi, I’m Julie and welcome to my site, I’m not a Supermom.

Be sure and check out M.O.B.Society’s Blog Hop and join us as we meet and learn about other moms who share so many similarities.

I started this site as a way to share with other moms out there who, like me wanted to be Supermom, but realized that Supermom is just a myth.

Like so many other women bloggers, I find it therapeutic to share life’s experiences, both the good and the bad. I try and add a dose of humor when I can, because there is nothing funnier than real life.

I have a loving husband and it’s the second marriage for both of us. We feel God really did send us to each other and our son is the miracle He wanted to give to us. We only wish God had brought us together sooner in our lives, but we know it was in His time, not ours.

We live in suburbia, but long for the country once again. I’m used to living the farm life and my husband and I are working hard to get back there. We want our 4 year old son to grow up out in the country.

Since my husband and I both race cars, our son loves cars and racing and any books relating to that. I try and broaden his exposure to other things including my love of horses and animals. I try and also show him there are many other things in life he can do and encourage him try new things.

I feel the best gifts you can give a child are books, art supplies and musical instruments.

I hope you check out M.O.B.Society and enjoy reading everyone’s links. It is so nice to have a place to come to when you need a lift, a word of encouragement or just to share a funny story.

So stick in a cartoon for the kiddos, sit back with your favorite drink and spend some quality time with some good online friends. It’s OK, you deserve a break to recharge, laugh some, cry a little and just de-stress.

And know this, in your family’s eyes you are SuperMom.

Recent Articles Worth Reading

Here are some links to just a few of the online articles I have been reading. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
The content may vary as I never know what will catch my eye.
Enjoy!

In The Trenches, But Not Alone - at MomHeart - This is a wonderful article. A must read if you are a weary mom looking for hope. When I first started reading it, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read on, but a little voice said, "Keep reading." And I am so glad I did. This is a new site to me, one I think is worth subscribing to. I think you will enjoy it.

3 Ways I am Preparing for Motherhood - at The Better Mom - This is a great article to pass on to any new mom-to-be, especially if they are a first time mom. Those of us with children remember what an exciting time that was and how we were also a little apprehensive at the thought of being a mom for the first time. This article shows what this woman is doing and she has some good advice.

The Freedom To Be Us -  at MomHeart - This is a great article about how easy it is to fall into the trap of comparing your family to others. We know we shouldn't compare ourselves to others, but we often times compare our family life to other families without even realizing it. This author relates to that in her own life and how she tries to overcome it. The pictures of her cute family are amazing. They amaze me with their youth and healthy vitality. I find it funny her comparing her family with others, when I bet many are comparing their families to hers, me included!

Application To Be a Boy Mom -  at M.O.B. Society - this is a cute list of some of the requirements needed to be a mom of a boy. This comes from one of my favorite sites, The M.O.B. Society. M.O.B. stands for Moms of Boys. I love being a mom to a boy. And if you have daughters, there is a M.O.D. Squad as well - check them out!

The Dangers of Kids Eating Laundry Pods - at You To Be Healthy - this article is from my Health & Wellness blog and it highlights another article written about how children are eating those laundry detergent pods and are being poisoned. A must read if you use these toxic chemicals.

I hope you enjoyed these stories. Feel free to comment and share what you have been reading.

Storm Door Glass

Some people see all the mess on my full length glass storm door as a sign I don’t want to clean it.

I like to think of it this way. All the fingerprints, smudges and tongue licks are my way of keeping everyone safe. The grime keeps them from looking through it and running into the glass.

Clever of me, isn’t it?

The Final Analysis

I have always admired Mother Teresa and her wisdom transcends time.
When I feel surrounded by people who seem uncaring, selfish and downright mean, I try and remember these words of wisdom.
Try your hardest to not let those people's negative energies pull you down into their dark pit.
Do your best to see the bright lights of true friends among them. It may take some looking, but they're there, like a small light in the dark. Surround yourself with these good people and like the shadows that run when the light is turned on, the others will fade away.
Enjoy Mother Teresa's words of wisdom:

The Final Analysis

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is all between you and God.
It was never between you and them……………….anyway.

Letting Them Help

When you have a lot to do, it can be hard to find the patience to let your little ones help. Children love to be in the middle of everything, don’t they? And boy do they ever get in the way sometimes!

They love to “help” even when it means more work for us. But I think we need to let them help us for them to feel valued. They need to know they are needed and can be of some use. They live to please us and to be a part of something.

I know there are many times I have been short with my son when he’s tried to help me and said things like, “Not this time. I just need to get this done!” What I didn’t realize at the time is that he needed to feel useful. He felt the need to help me and to feel like he’s a contributing. He needed to feel useful. All I ended up doing was just made him feel bad, like he was in the way.

Ugh! I did it again! I hate those parenting failure moments!

Often times when I don’t let him help me, he gets frustrated and even angry. He also gets his feelings hurt. When I deny him this opportunity to feel helpful and to learn skills by working with me, I am making him feel like he isn’t capable of helping me or that his help isn’t valued. And I never want to make him feel that way.

Looking back, I see that even if I didn’t have the time to let him help me with what I was doing, I should have looked around for a small, out of the way job that he could do at the same time. That way I could have completed my task quickly and still had made him feel useful.

I must learn to schedule more time to accomplish my daily chores to allow for time for my young son to help me. Yes, it may take me longer to get done and I may have to re-do it over later, but the payoff of him learning new skills and more importantly, boosting his self esteem far outweighs the benefit of scratching another chore off my To-Do list.

I love scratching off the chores on my list, but I love showing my son how to write his letters more.

I love getting caught up on laundry, if only in my dreams, but teaching my son how to separate the laundry into piles will serve him better when he’s on his own and doesn’t want to end up with pink underwear.

I love having a clean house, but it sure is entertaining to watch my little one wrestle with a bulky vacuum that is bigger than he is and see the look of satisfaction and pride when he shows me how clean the rug is.

See, my most important job isn’t to balance the checkbook, to do the dishes or keep the laundry pile under 30 ft high. My most important job is being his teacher, his coach and his mama.

How do I want my son to remember spending his time with me? As always making him feel like he was in the way or where he learned about doing things for himself with his me right there to help him learn?

I think I know. It’s teaching him how to put the toilet paper roll on right.
